The Paulding County 9-12 Group

Paulding County 9-12 Group Newsletter – November 2009

Hello everyone,

It was so nice to get back to our meetings last Saturday – I appreciate everyone that was there and I hope to see the rest of you at our next meeting on SATURDAY, December 12th where we will put into place some new leadership and new meeting places & schedules for the 2010 calendar.
Before I start on the newsletter let me just say that I know you’ve all heard that healthcare passed in the House – we are not out of it yet! We can still stop it in the Senate but we HAVE to fight. We do NOT want government in our healthcare – one of the things included in this healthcare bill is the monitoring and control of all vending machines. If healthcare passes it gives the government a door into our lives!! They will then have every right to come into your homes and tell you what you are doing wrong as parents, for example – PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THIS – IT IS A DANGEROUS DOOR TO OPEN!!!! OUR FREEDOMS CAN BE TAKEN AWAY WITH JUST THE PASSING OF HEALTHCARE – THINK ABOUT THE FREEDOMS OF YOUR CHILDREN!!! I am attaching all of the Georgia blue dog/pro-life democrats – they are the ones we need to work on!!
Here are the things we discussed at the November meeting:
1. The Principle of the month is “The family is sacred. My spouse & I are the ultimate authority, not the government. “I consider the people who constitute a society or a nation as the source of all in that nation.” Thomas Jefferson
2. The Value(s) of the month – Gratitude & Hard Work – because anyone that has a family knows that these two values always go with it – we are grateful for our families but they are a lot of hard work too!!
3. My family & I went to the NCCS Making of America Seminar last weekend and I bought a bunch of the Making of America MP3s – it is the actual seminar in listening format. They are $5 each and I have a few left – so first come first serve!!
4. Ideas for 2010: there are several things we discussed fir the coming year.
A) We need a new meeting place so that we can have speakers come in during the campaign season. I have spoken to the people at both Kennesaw State & Chattahoochee Tech and I am waiting to hear back from them about meeting in their Paulding buildings. Until I have a solid booking I am still looking for a place though – we need a place that we can meet in every month and that holds 40ish people.
B) We discussed adding leadership to the group so that we don’t have to cancel any future meetings – we need a VP, a secretary, a treasurer (for the teen group) and a teen group leader. If you are interested in holding a leadership position let me know – I will be speaking to several of you in the near future about these positions.
C) We are adding meetings to the agenda – it is an election year and we will be busy but I feel strongly that we need to meet more often so here is the idea: Friday is only an example – it can be held on another day if needed!!
1) 1st Friday of every month – education meeting (like we’ve been having)
2) 2nd Friday of every month – our T-VERS (teen 9-12vers)
3) 3rd Friday of every month – speakers meeting (people from the outside)
4) 4th Friday of every month – leadership meeting (Pres, VP, Sec, Treasurer, & Teen Leaders)
5) 5th Friday every month – service projects (there are 3 in 2010)
D) The Cobb 9-12 Group is doing Christmas goodies for the troops. They are putting together goodies for the troops from their zip codes. Do we want to help them or do we want to do this for the Paulding County soldiers.
5. There are 3 books I am highly recommending this month!!!
A) American Progressivism edited by Ronald J. Pestritto & William J. Atto
B) The Law – by Frederick Bastiat
C)
The Naked Communist by Cleon Skousen
All of these books are must reads and will help you understand more about what is happening in our country today.
6. We had a lesson on the different ‘isms. Here are the basic notes from this lesson:
      A) Capitalism – also called a free market economy, a system where businesses, investment of capital, production, distribution, income, prices etc. are determined by the individual businesses & the market NOT by the government. Services are voluntary & held privately rather than by the government. Competition is the main self-regulating feature of capitalism – this helps maintain fair market value for goods & services.
      B) Socialism – An economic system of government which advocates state ownership of production with equal distribution of goods among the people. The central goal is to establish a “worker’s paradise” – an ideal state with perfect equality. The government owns the banks, railroads, farmlands, factories & stores & is THE ONLY EMPLOYER!! People are sometimes allowed to have a small garden. Socialism is the antithesis of capitalism and is based on the redistribution of wealth – socialism stresses the privileges of the many over the rights of the few.
      C)
Marxism – An early form of socialism that came to play around 1848. It was developed by Karl Marx & Fredrich Engels & it uses materialism to explain all physical & social phenomena. Private ownership in industry is to be eliminated & control is to be put to the masses as a whole.
      D)
Communism – Came about in its modern form about 1918 – 1920 in Russia with Lenin. 20th Century communism is based on Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto. Communism is supposed to have a classless society, it replaces private ownership of production with collective ownership. Communist leaders believe that people cannot change & they have killed 40 – 260 million of their own people while in power. Today communism continues to rule over at least 1/5 of the world’s population.
      E)
Fascism – Arose in the early 20th Century & came to dominate the social & political systems of Italy under Benito Mussolini & in Germany under Adolph Hitler. The word “fascism” comes from an ancient Roman symbol called the Faces which is a group of birch rods bundled together. It symbolizes strength in unity; the rods are weak by themselves but strong when bundled together. Fascist believe that all actions should be done for the good of the state – the government & businesses have to work together for the good of the state. The state is more important than the individual. Fascist regimes have often concentrated on a “scapegoat” to push their agendas (i.e. the Nazi attack on the Jews) & there is always rampant cronyism & corruption as well as rigged elections & general disdain for human life.
      7. The next thing we did was play “Who Said It?” The idea of this is to compare our current leadership with known communist leaders. Below I have put all of the quotes we used in the game – notice how similar the ideas are – this should chill each & every one of you to the bone!!!
Here is a great quote to start us out: “How do you tell a Communist? Well, it is someone who reads Marx & Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It’s someone who understands Marx & Lenin.” Ronald Reagan
     Known Communist/Socialists (early 1900s)
• “The party system demands & obtains for a party an amount of loyal service & personal sacrifice which a public-spirited democrat should lavish only on the state.” Herbert Croly progressive liberal writer & leader of the new liberalism movement early 1900
• “Political Power grows out of the barrel of a gun.” Mao Tse-Tung ( a Chinese revolutionary & Communist leader died in 1976
• “The America Presidency’s power is not confined by the enumerated grants of power made in the Constitution.” Theodore Roosevelt – yes he was not a good guy, he believed in BIG government and severe regulation of businesses!
• “The Living notion of a constitution was far superior to the founders’ model, which had considered government a kind of machine that could be constantly limited through checks and balances.” Woodrow Wilson – here too – not a good guy. He gave us the FTC, the Clayton Antitrust Act, the FED & put income taxes on your paycheck!!! Read his speech “14 Points” it’s chilling & will help you see what type of man he was!
• “Christians ought to focus on salvation in this life, in the form of social goods achieved through the state. This meant overcoming man’s attachment to private property, and removing private property rights as an obstacle to social action.” Minister Walter Rauschenbusch – a Baptist minister
• “My object in life is to dethrone God & destroy capitalism.” Karl Marx
• “We are not bound to adhere to the doctrines held by the signers of the Declaration of Independence, and that every 4th of July instead of a celebration of the timeless principle of the Declaration, should instead be a time for examining our standards, our purposes, for determining afresh what principle, what forms of power we think most likely to affect our safety & happiness.” Woodrow Wilson
• “The rights which an individual possess are, it is believed, conferred upon him, not by his Creator, but rather by the society to which he belongs. What they are is to be determined by the legislative authority in view of the needs of that society. Social expediency, rather than natural right, is thus to determine the sphere of individual freedom of action.” Frank Goodnow the 1st president of the American Political Science Association he taught at Columbia and Johns Hopkins
• “We grudge no man a fortune in civil life if it is honorable obtained & well used. It is not even enough that it should have been gained without doing damage to the community. We should permit it to be gained only so long as the gaining represents benefit to the community. This, I know, implies a policy of a far more active governmental interference with social & economic conditions in this country than we have yet had, but I think we have got to face the fact that such an increase in government control is now necessary.” Theodore Roosevelt
• “National Socialism will use its own revolution for establishing a new world order” Adolph Hilter
• “In fundamental theory socialism & democracy are almost if not quite one & the same. They both rest at bottom upon the absolute right if the community to determine its own destiny & that of its members. Limits if wisdom & convenience to the public control there may be: limits of principle there are, upon strict analysis, none.” Woodrow Wilson
• A system of licensing & registration is the perfect device to deny gun ownership to the masses” Lenin –a Marxist Russia leader
• “We no longer believe as we once believed that a good social organization can be secured merely through stressing our rights. The emphasis is being laid more & more on social duties. The efficiency of the social group is taking on in our eyes a greater importance than it once had.” Frank Goodnow American educator & legal scholar
• “Society’s needs come before the individual’s needs” Adolph Hitler
• “The education of all children, from the moment that they can get along without a mother’s care, shall be in state institutions at state expense.” Karl Marx
• “If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, 1st by inflation & then by deflation, the banks & corporations that will grow up around them (around the banks), will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.” Thomas Jefferson
• “Today Americans would be outraged if U.N. troops entered Los Angeles to restore order; tomorrow they will be grateful.” Henry Kissinger Secretary of the State under Nixon
“Destroy the family, you destroy the country” Lenin
• “A liberal is someone who feels a great debt to his fellow man; a debt he proposes to pay off with your money.” G. Gordon Liddy Chief of the White House “Plumbers” (called this in response to damaging leaks of information from the White House) under Nixon – he masterminded the first break in of the Watergate building
• The meaning of peace is the absence of opposition to Socialism” Karl Marx
                      Modern Day Quotes
• “And guess what this liberal would be all about. This liberal would be about social..ah…ah..basically taking over & the government running all of your companies.” Maxine Waters on finding solutions for the high gas prices.
• “Energy prices will necessarily skyrocket” as we work to fix the economy. Obama
• “What we’re working on is building a global organization because Workers of the World Unite”. It’s not just a slogan anymore, it’s a way we’re going to have to do our work.” Andy Stern – head of SEIU
• “Everybody is so pinched that business is bad for everybody and I think that when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.” Obama to Joe the Plumber
• “Before debating healthcare, I talked to Andy Stern & SEIU members.” Obama
• There are opportunities in America to share better in the wealth, to rebalance the power & unions & government is a part of the solution.” Andy Stern
• “We took names, we watched how they voted, & we know where they live.” Andy Stern – About the election in 2008
• “We’re trying to use the power of persuasion & if that doesn’t work, we’re going to use the persuasion of power because there are governments & there are opportunities to change laws that affect companies.” Andy Stern
• “The land of the greed & the home of the slave.” Jeremiah Wright Obama’s preacher for 20+ years – he baptized both of their daughters
• “I admire communist because of the way communist fight for the rights of working people & against racism.” Frank Marshall Davis – Obama’s mentor
• “Mass sterilization of humans through drugs in the water supply is ok as long gas it doesn’t harm live stock.” John Holdren Obama’s Science Czar
• “Chairman Mao is one of the two people I turn to most.” Anita Dunn – White House Communication Director
• “Hugo Chavez was really incredible.” Mark Lloyd FCC/Diversity Czar
• “We need to make sure we’re moving electricity in the smartest way & using the most cost effective electricity at the right time of day. Eventually we can get to a system where an electric company will be able to hold back some of the power so that your air conditioner won’t operate at its peak.” Carol Browner Obama’s Energy Czar
• “Single mothers should have their babies taken away by the government or they could be forced to have abortions.” John Holdren Obama’s Science Czar
• “We up held the Marxist critique of capitalist exploitation. We agree with Lenin’s analysis of the state & the party. And we found inspiration & guidance in the insurgent revolutionary strategies developed by 3rd world revolutionaries like Mao Tse-Tung.” Van Jones Obama’s former Green Job’s Czar
• “The Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth & sort of more basic issues of political & economic justice in this society.” Obama
• “We really need to bring China into the creation of a new world order, financial world order.” George Soros, visitor to the White House
• “A legislative effort to regulate broadcasting in the interest of democratic principles should not be seen as an abridgement of the free speech guarantee.” Cass Sustein Obama’s Czar
• “I happen to be a proponent of the single payer health care plan – a single payer healthcare plan – universal healthcare – that’s what I’d like to see.” Obama speaking to SCL-CIO
• “Someone once said to me this is a Trojan horse for a single payer (system). And I said well it’s not a Trojan horse, right? It’s just right there! I’m telling you: we’re going to get there – over time, slowly – but we’ll move away from reliance on employment-based healthcare insurance as we should.” Jacob Hacker from the TIDES foundation
• “…I prefer the word progressive which has a real American meaning going back to the progressive era at the beginning of the 20th Century. I consider myself a modern progressive.” Hillary Clinton in the 2008 Democratic Debate – read American Progressivism and you’ll understand how chilling this quote really is!!!

      8. Finally I am including the “Bill of Non Rights”. This is an e-mail that has gone around but I really like the ideas. Sorry if you’ve already seen this.

"We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, delusional, and other bed-wetters. We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights."

ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.
ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone -- not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc; but the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be.
ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful; do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.
ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes ..
ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in public health care.
ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair.
ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.
ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful.
ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.
ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you are from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to wherever you came from! (Lastly....)
ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our country's history or heritage. This country was founded on the belief in one true God. And yet, you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!
I am sorry this is so long – if there’s anything you can’t read this newsletter will be on our website in full! I hope you all are doing well – please let me hear from you!! If you know of a place we can meet or if you want to be involved in leadership let me know asap.

****Here is one last quote to think about “Government does not tax to get the money it needs; government always finds a need for the money it gets.” Ronald Reagan

Have a great week – see you at our next meeting.

Newsletter October 2009

  1. I am really sorry that we did not have our meeting this month - I was rather sick and was not prepared to have someone else run the meeting.  The good news is that because this happened I have been inspired as to the way out group should go and grow.  I have several ideas that I will present to you at our next meeting but the main one that will allow us to have a meeting even when I am sick is that I want to have officers that will meet with me monthly and discuss what we are going to do at each of our meetings so the meetings can happen with or without me (read #4 below for more details).
  2. I am looking for a new place to move our meeting to for 2010.  I am very thankful that the LDS church has allowed us to use their building but they have rules against politicians coming into their building and speaking and that is something I want to have this coming year so...everyone keep your eyes peeled for a new place.  It needs to seat 30 - 50 people, preferably not a food establishment, and we need to be able to book it for the same week every month (meaning the 1st (or 2nd or 3rd - doesn't matter which)  Friday of every month).  I am going to look at several places this week so keep your fingers crossed!
  3. I have some interesting ideas for 2010 but most importantly is that we are going to get more involved outside of our group - have speakers come in, working for candidates we like (since it's an election year) and we will be starting up what I am calling our T'vers which is going to be our Teen 9-12vers.  I am working on getting them involved in the same types of things the Teem Republicans 7 Democrats do but we will be working with Independents and Libertarians.  So if you know someone that is between the ages of 10 & 21 let them know that our first meeting is coming up in January!!  We are also going to try to get some donations that will allow us to start putting together gift boxes for the troops from Paulding County on active duty.  Nothing huge but something from home just to let them know we care!!!
  4. Finally, in December of 2010 we will have elections for president, v-p, secretary, and treasurer for our 9-12 group.  I am happy to do this job for as long as you all want me to but I believe that we need to have an election once we've gotten the bones of the group in place - that is going to take us the bulk of this coming year so I will continue on as president until the time of the election - which will happen the first week on December 2010 and those elected in will take over January 1, 2010.  With all of this in mind I need help before then so I need a V-P, a secretary and a treasurer (even though we have $0 right now) and maybe even a couple of committee members (this will be our Action Committee) for 2010.  If you are interested in holding one of these positions please let me know - if there is more than one person wanting a position we will have a quick vote on it at our December meeting.  By having this committee we should not have to cancel meetings in the future!!
  5. I look forward to seeing some of you this Saturday, October 31st at the Making of America Seminar and I'll see the rest of you at our next meeting - Saturday, November 7th at 7:00pm!!

Have a great day!

Newsletter July 2009

1.       Welcome!!  First of all I am SO excited about the new people that came to our meeting this month!! Welcome, welcome, welcome!!! I hope even more come to our next meeting on August 8th!!!

2.Issues- 1) We talked about GA Attorney Gen Thurbert Baker signing the Amicus Brief Supporting the 2nd AmendmentYou can go to the NRA's website to read up on this and when you do don't forget to call (404-656-3300) or email (agbaker@law.ga.us) and thank him for his support of the 2nd Amendment!! 2) We talked about some issues in Paulding County - the county is$4 million in debt because of the new court house. The new Wellstar Hospital is being built on the corner of Bill Carruth and 278 - it will be a state of the art hospital and will bring jobs into the county!!! We are getting a Whole Foods in the county - it's unsure when it will be finished but it's coming!!

3.We took a short sample citizenship test - I think we all were surprised at how hard the questions were!!!  See the link to the left to take the entire test.

4.9-12 Information- a) 9-12 principle - "The government works for me. I do NOT answer to them, they answer to me. Thomas Jefferson said, "I consider the people who constitute a society or a nation as the source of all authority in that nation."b) 9-12 values- Honesty- we want more honest politicians and we should be more honest people - if we achieved that honestly our nation would never falter!! Hope- Francois said "We promise according to our hopes and perform according to our fears."

5.August 9-12 Meeting- Will be on Saturday, August 8th at 7:00pm, there will NOT be a September meeting due to Glenn's 9-12 Project update show on September 12th and the Tea Party (not a 9-12 sponsored event) on September 12th.

6.Final Thought- Some people today like to say that the Constitution is a living document but to me that symbolizes a constant change - when you think of a living thing you think of growing and changing. The Constitution is NOT a living document in that sense.  What the Constitution is - is a contract given with the consent of the people and can ONLY be changed by an amendment process and a majority vote.  Therefore the Constitution is a constant, solid fixture that has had very little need of change - only 27 amendments in the past 239 years.  To me that says just how right our Founders got it and that it's perfect just the way it is!!    See ya next month!!

Newsletter June 2009

  1. 9-12 Information a) 9-12 Principle - "I have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but there is NO guarantee of equal rights!!!"  This is another principle we have forgotten about in modern day America - the beauty of a capitalist and FREE society is the guaranteed right to try to do anything (within the law).  Anyone can start a business in America but that doesn't mean that we are all going to have the same success.  We should celebrate the freedom we have to try different things and also be happy for those that succeed because one day that success will come to us!  Just remember that in a FREE America - if they can succeed so can I!!!  "During the founding of America, French philosophers cried our in protest - "But then some of the people (in America) will become very rich!"  the founders responded "Indeed they will - the more the better!"  (the 5,000 Year Leap p. 117) b) 9-12 Value - "Personal Responsibility" "In times like the present, men should utter nothing for which they would not willingly be responsible through time and eternity." (Abraham Lincoln, Dec. 1862)
  2. Current Events a) We are demanding that the GA Attorney General Thurburt Baker & GA Governor Sonny Purdue take a stand for the lawful, US citizens of Georgia by supporting the Voter ID laws that have been passed and upheld in court, but are now being invalidated by the current administration's Department of Justice, led by Eric Holder. This is Baker's duty but he has divorced himself from this issue. Educate yourself on this topic and then contact Baker's office at 404-656-3300 or Purdue's office at 404-656-1776 and let them know how you feel about this issue - either way!!!  b) I am planning a Town Hall Meeting with Congressman Phil Gingrey.  So far it's scheduled for August 17th at 7:00pm but the location is undecided.  More to come on this.  c) If you have seen the Safelink commercials then you HAVE to be as upset as I am - anyone that receives government assistance (food stamps, welfare or even section 8 housing) qualifies for a FREE (to them) cell phone and (in GA) 95 rollover minutes each month - if this one upsets you then call and let your local leaders know how you feel about this.  (see the list of leaders below)  d) To see who is running (and for what) in 2010 go to the following website:   http://www.georgialegislativewatch.com/2009/06/02/whos-running-statewide-in-2010
  3. Interesting Facts - a) Did you know that you do NOT have to be a lawyer to be on the Supreme Court?  It's true - look it up!!  b) The Great Seal of the U.S.A. pictures a bald eagle holding a ribbon in its beak; the ribbon has the motto of the USA, "E Pluribus Unum", meaning "out of many, one".  The eagle is clutching an olive branch (with 13 olives and 13 leaves) in one foot (symbolizing peace) and 13 arrows in the other (the 13 stands for the original 13 colonies and the arrows symbolize the acceptance of the need to go to war to protect the country).  A shield is in front of the eagle; the shield has 13 red and white stripes (also representing the 13 original colonies) with a blur bar above it (it symbolizes the uniting of the 13 colonies and also represents Congress).  Above the eagle are rays, a circle of clouds, and 13 white stars.  It was adopted on June 20, 1782.  c) Teddy Roosevelt wanted the motto "In God We Trust" removed from the new $20 gold coin designed in 1907.  Roosevelt felt that it was blasphemous to use the Lord's name on coins that were so often used to buy "worldy" goods and services.  After a HUGE public outcry, Congress passed a law requiring "In God we Trust" be returned to all U.S. coinage at once!!!
